TRAVELERS REST, SC (FOX Carolina) - The Travelers Rest Police Department is investigating the sexual abuse of a young child. Police said on June 4, they received a complaint regarding two sexual assaults of a minor under the age of 11 years old in November and December of 2015. According to arrest warrants, 55-year-old William Lee Carpenter Jr. is accused of first-degree sexual battery with the child. Regina Gail Owings, 45, is accused of restraining the victim by holding the child down by the shoulders while Carpenter committed one of the acts. Carpenter and Owings were arrested on Sunday after an investigation revealed probable cause. Both were denied bond by a judge and are currently being held at the Greenville County Detention Center.
